About the Author
Robert earned a postgraduate degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. He is a certified nutritionist and a certified strength and conditioning specialist and has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years. He has worked with an array of athletes from the X-Games, UFC, MLB, NFL, NHL, PGA, and LPGA. As a parent of high school golfers, I feel this book is such an invaluable asset to help support my student athletes. The author knows so well how this game differs from other sports and his insight on keeping up with hydration/nutrition to accommodate that was very helpful. He provides very specific suggestions that you can immediately incorporate in a practical sense. I loved the quick "geek moments" as well as the easy, but nutritious recipes. Very easy read. It's not just for golfers or athletes. It's a foundational guideline for healthy living. Highly recommend to everyone especially if you have children.
Robert Yang was my fitness coach when I lived in San Diego-I struggled with scoliosis, so he was my go-to guy to keep me moving. We relocated to Pebble Beach, but all the principles he taught I still practice. His information is life changing and easy to implement. His book is fabulous - whether you are a golfer, fitness individual or just someone trying to keep healthy. A must read and a great resource to remind what you need to do to stay healthy. Take some of the authors rules with “ a grain of salt.â€1. This is mainly a takeoff of the old, Dr. Atkins high fat diet not suitable for everyone.2. Water intake is vital but several new studies state that ANY liquid intake suffices, not just clear water as the author insists upon.
Robert Yang nailed it with this book. Over the past 17 years, I have dedicated a lot of time into researching human nutrition. This means reading a ton of books on diet and nutrition. What I love about this book is how well Robert explains nutritional concepts (i.e. blood sugar balance) in a very concise manner. He takes complex concepts and makes them easy to understand. The book is easy to read, and fun! Most Nutrition books end up boring you to sleep. This book kept me turning the page, excited for the next chapter. And being a Health and Fitness nerd, I loved the "Geek Moments".Bravo Mr. Yang. Hopefully you have more books to come!!
I just finished reading this book. It is fantastic! I highly recommend it for ANYONE who not only cares about their health, but wants to perform better whether it be in athletics, academics, or at work. (Don’t let the title fool you into thinking that this book only applies to golfers. It applies to everyone!). The information is presented in a way that is readily accessible and applicable by anyone, regardless if they have a medical/health background or not. This book actually got me excited to eat better and improve my activity levels. Great job on this book, Robert Yang!!!
Robert Yang provides an easily-understood framework to build a sustainable, nutritious lifestyle starting with the basics: water, whole foods, and supplements. Though many of the examples/scenarios are golf-themed, the information can be applied more generally and used by anyone seeking better health and performance. I highly recommend this book to all athletes or athletically-inclined individuals. Robert busts some of the commonly-held beliefs about sports nutrition; myths that may be holding you back from peak performance and recovery. Robert has done a great job in not only sharing what to do for great nutrition but why it is important. The book provides great data that supports his findings. The approach is very simple on hydration, eating the right foods and taking the proper supplements. I already feel great a couple weeks into reading his book. Having played tournament golf, I am confident this guide will be a game changer for those players looking to play well and compete. I highly recommend Robert's book. You won't be disappointed.
